Chai is merely the generic word for tea in Hindi, Punjabi and many other languages around the world, and was adopted into British slang as "cha" or "char". However, for many English speakers who refer to ordinary tea as "tea", the word "chai" has come to imply "masala chai", a mixture of black tea and spices. In India, different areas use differnt spices. After comprehensive research and tastings, Eugenius selected the spices in Chai-me-- we hope you like it! In the West, chai powders are often substituted for the real thing, and quite commonly your chai latte, will be made much the same as an instant coffee. A spiced, sweetened tea-based syrup or powder merely requires dilution with milk and bears little resemblance to the taste of the Orient, that is Chai-me by Eugenius for Speciali-teas! |
